Anthropic Landscapes

Anthropic Landscapes is a conceptual research based on the concept of landscape.Through a serial approach this project explores the relation of the place itself and its visual codification obtained by signs and captions. The work is made of four movements that act together and were captured in various locations throughout the world (American deserts, the Swiss Alps, Central Italy and London): Holy America (2008), Kew Catalogation (2009), Tables d’orientation (2009 – 2010) and Paesaggi residuali (2011).These works deal with subtle conceptual approaches to landscapes and above all to their representation and the figurative patterns that are given back to us. Constructed around a methodical and static matrix, in which the contents are constant and the shots focus on a strong sense of verticality. The ample work discusses the perception of the landscape in its historical and natural form and draws the viewer into pondering the repeated attempts of man’s unwavering need to understand his environment and to gain control of it in its most diverse forms, from physical, to perceptual, to mental. Holy America - Finalist at Premio Pezza 2009
