Carlo Scarpa’s architecture features some elements that mark and distinguish all of his work, like a both structural and symbolic leitmotif. Dettagli (2011) aims to point out this aspect, focusing on two components: stairs and water. Two elements metaphorically in conflict which Scarpa managed to make coexist in harmony, working mainly in pre-existing contexts and never overshadowing the original identity of these places. The photographic choice encloses these aspects, grasping them throughout some of his major projects, such as Brion and Castelvecchio, yet opening and closing with Venice, his home town and city made of stairs and water.. 2° Prize - Carlo Scarpa : uno sgurado contemporaneo
